
Classes and rules for GTi Club gymkhanas 2010
Entries:
Entries and scrutineering will be done on the day from 08:30 until
10:00. NO entries will be accepted after
10:00 as the event will start promptly at 10:00. Entry fee for the gymkhana for GTi Club members will be R50 per entry and for non GTi Club members the entry fee will be R80 per entry.
NO PRACTICE runs will be allowed. Only 3 timed runs per entry.
Two fastest times will be combined for an overall result.
Start sequence
will be strictly in numerical order.
Classes:
Class A - Front wheel drive cars 1801cc and above
Class B - Front wheel drive cars 1601cc to 1801cc
Class C - Front wheel drive cars 1401cc to 1600cc
Class D - Front wheel drive cars up to 1400cc
Class E - Rear wheel drive cars above 2000cc
Class F - Rear wheel drive cars up to 2000cc
Class G - Specials: 4x4, turbo, supercharged, mid engined,
V8
Class H - Single seaters
(only for vehicles with one seat)
Class I - Ladies class
Class X - When a vehicle does not fit in any of the
above
classes
(not a point scoring class – no trophies)
The Clerk of
the Course reserves the right to use his discretion regarding vehicle
classification
Cars and drivers:
Navigators
not compulsory. Both driver and navigator must have MSA
licence.
Maximum of 2
drivers / entries (different drivers) per car
A driver may
only enter once in a class BUT may enter multiple cars
Maximum of 2
entries per driver
A driver may
not enter the same car in multiple classes.
Road tyres have
to have road legal (minimum thread depth of 2mm),
however “semi / intermediate tyres” do not have to be roadworthy iro tread depth, subject to scrutiny by our scrutineers.
No practice
runs. Only 3 timed runs per entry
allowed and this will count for points.
All competitors
(drivers and navigators) must be in possession of a valid MSA Club licence.
Helmets are
mandatory.
Penalties:
Slowest time
plus 5 sec will be awarded for deliberate short cutting or deviation from set
course. 5 Sec penalty for each obstacle
missed, entered from wrong direction, passed or failure to straddle line (two
wheels in front and two behind) and touching or knocking over of bollards. Play if you want but stick to the set route
at all times.
NB: Misconduct (littering – racing on access roads - excessive noise -
damage to property) by any team and its associates will result in the
disqualification of the respective crews and an official complaint will be
lodged with both MSA and the members specific Club.
Points:
Points for
overall VW and non VW champion are allocated to paid
up / current GTi Club members only and can not be
back dated.
Points are NOT
transferable between classes.
All GTi club members will be given 2 points for every official
event entered.
Prizegiving will take place at the next GTi Club meeting (normally the 1st Monday of
each month at the Multi Motor Club in Parow) after
the gymkhana.
